The child as a member of civil society. The case of a school community
This essay comprises a small scale qualitative research on children’s participatory rights according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It explores children’s participation to civil society, precisely to school community, of which main members are students, educators and parents. Based on semi-structured interviews, I examine the school community’s main members’ conceptions child’s citizenship and its political and social participation to school community. Finally, it attempts to understand the relation of school governance and the negotiation of children’s position in the school community.
