The perception of “Clean City” theatrical performance directed by Anestis Azas & Prodromos Tsinikoris. A case study.
The present case-study presents the discourse around “Clean City“, a documentary theatre play, directed by Anestis Azas & Prodromos Tsinikoris. Authoring their own stories, the non-professional protagonists of “Clean City“, are acting themselves, as migrants and housecleaners in Greek houses. The data under examination come from the seven discussions I had with the five protagonists and the two directors, as well as the fifteen Greek reviews that refer to the play. After collecting my data, I investigate the ways that performers’ narratives are being represented and how their identities are being constructed through words. Particular emphasis is placed on how the five performers choose to represent themselves.
