Issues of social inclusion and citizenship: The case of Romanian immigrants
This assignment presents the results of a qualitative research that examines the mobility of Romanian immigrants during the decade of 1990. Specifically, it was examined the social inclusion of these first-generation immigrants in the city of Nafplio, which was their initial establishment and today their permanent place of residence. What the writer tried to show is the understanding of the way that Romanians were included and to what extent. Within this framework, the phenomenon of migration, the European immigration policy and in particular the Greek one (policy), the ways and the factors of inclusion. Within the same context, a deeper exploration to Romanian migration in Greece, was attempted. Despite the fact that there is an improvement, concerning the circumstances of Romanian inclusion compared with the past, it was found that they do not have access to the fundamental rights, even after decades since their arrival in Greece.
